While Novak Djokovic has enjoyed tremendous success on tour this season, it hasn’t been a great year for Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. Even though Rafa somehow won a Masters 1000 tournament this year, the Swiss Maestro failed to get his hands on any title in 2021.

Since Nadal failed to win Grand Slam titles – could not defend his French Open title, and didn’t take part in Wimbledon or US Open 2021) – he didn’t win any ATP points from the four Grand Slams.

Thus, all his 1,545 points that he accomplished this year have come from ATP tournaments like the Barcelona Open 2021, Italian Open 2021, and others. Similarly, US Open 2020 champion, Dominic Thiem, also failed to bag any points from the Grand Slams this year.

As a result of this, the Swiss Maestro is now out of the list of the top-10 ATP players. It is quite shocking since it is for the first time since January 2017, that the 20-time Grand Slam champion is out of the top-10 ATP rankings.
