Stefanos Tsitsipas had the support of the Australian crowd to clinch the title at the Australian Open this year. However, Novak Djokovic let that support stay, only to console him after he defeated him. In that supporting group, was Tsitsipas’ girlfriend, Theodora Petalas, who was rooting for the Greek player to clinch his first Grand Slam title. However, there has been an unfortunate update about their relationship, which is quite worrying, given that they have been together for more than four years.

We have seen Mirka Federer supporting Roger Federer, and Jelena Djokovic rooting for her husband Novak Djokovic on tour. The Tsitsipas-Petalas couple, too, had given us the hope of seeing them uplifting each other for a long time.

The Greek tennis star made the headlines after reaching the finals of the Australian Open this year. Though we could not see his girlfriend Theodora Petalas in the crowd, she was rooting for him from London.

The couple has always been in a long-distance relationship. They have dated each other since 2019 and the distance is something they have never had any issue with. As reported by Marie Claire, Stefanos once said, “It’s a little difficult for us, because she lives in London. But thankfully it hasn’t brought us to extremes.” However, seems like the extremes are here as the distance has created an issue at the moment.

Hence, the couple has decided to part ways and Tsitsipas is keen on focusing on his career, as reported by ‘Our Breakfast’. The Greek player has made their separation official after removing their pictures from his Instagram.

Petalas herself is a career woman who is working as a junior strategist at a branding and marketing agency. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science specializing in project management and technology from New York University.

The couple bonded with each other over tennis, too. Petalas enjoys playing tennis, so that was the icing on the cake for Tsitsipas. He once stated, “When I play with her, it is my favorite moment on the court,” he said. “It brings a huge smile to my face.”

Unfortunately, things have come to an end between the two of them. Nonetheless, the two have parted on respectful terms and are focused on their careers for now.

How did the couple meet each other?

The two met each other in New York for the first time, and Tsitsipas accepted the fact that he liked her from their first meeting.

However, at that point, he was too shy to ask her out. So, when the opportunity came the second time in 2019, he asked her out. His favorite pictures are also from the time when they went on their first date in Brooklyn.

Though it is a loss to see the couple breaking up, the two seem to have ended it on a good note. The Greek player is right now gearing up for the Miami Open after having an unsuccessful run at the Indian Wells Masters.
