Novak Djokovic is one of the oldest players on tour right now for the Grand Slams and other major tournaments. However, even with so many young and thriving players on the ATP tours, he was able to win 3 out of the 4 grand slams last year. This has of course surrounded the younger players with questions and doubts as to when they will be able to end Djokovic’s dominance.
Top-seeded Holger Rune recently admitted in an interview how he and other young players on the tour are not giving their best and have been disappointing when it comes to defeating and bringing down the world number 1 despite the fact that he is older than them.

Holger Rune is one of the few players who has been able to beat Novak Djokovic more than once in their career. However, he still feels that he and other young players need to get better if they want to take over from the world number 1. He said in an interview, “We’ve got to step up. We’ve got to do it not just one time but more regularly because I beat him [in 2023], [Jannik] Sinner beat him, but he is still winning three out of four grand slams and maybe he almost won Wimbledon also.” So, he wants other players on the tour, especially the younger players to better their skills and game so they can defeat Djokovic and end his dominance of being the number 1 year after year.
