Chris Eubanks on how his side hustle helped him

The 27-year-old American tennis player has come a long way. Before making a breakthrough on the tennis court, he had already found an alternative profession for himself as a tennis commentator, going from debuting as a commentator to reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Recently, in an interview with Tennis Channel, Eubanks revealed the secret recipe of his game that helped him do better.

He said, “You are telling the viewer things that you see, but it’s almost like you’re subconsciously telling yourself, like you’re a little bit more aware of all these players who are doing a good job of making second serve returns on big points when they need to.”

Further, he also talked about how there is a relationship between his commentating stints and the results he has displayed on the tennis court. While watching a full match, he addressed how somewhere in his mind, his perspective improved a lot more regarding how things played out on the tennis court from an outside perspective.

Last year, in April, Eubanks started working as a commentator for Tennis Channel as an alternative tennis career. But now things have changed a lot, and he has made his way as one of the rising Americans present in the tennis arena.

What made Chris Eubanks get into commentary?

After making his way to the Wimbledon quarterfinals earlier this month, in an interview with Tennis Channel, Eubanks admitted how he had different versions of his long-term future in the sport depending on his ranking. He revealed how there were some low moments when he thought getting into commentary was something that could keep him connected to this sport, despite the fact that he was ranked around 200.

Nevertheless, he also highlighted how he thought of commentating differently a few years ago, but now he only uses it as a tool that can better prepare him for the challenges he will face on the bigger platform.
