The French Open had people from all around the world rooting for their countrymen. While players from Europe, Asia, and South America went into the final stages, players from the US like Frances Tiafoe & Tommy Paul were out by the third round in the men’s draw. American fans were majorly chuffed about their favorites being ousted from the clay major. Patrick McEnroe, brother of John McEnroe and a doubles tennis legend, was one of those.

I mean, I told you do not expect too much at Roland Garros on the clay. Those three guys plus Korda coming up, you know, they can be in the mix at the other majors. But at the French, still not seeing it on the clay,” McEnroe stated as he talked about Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul.

Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul will go far at Wimbledon

While he did not believe they would go far in clay, McEnroe is sure that at least Tiafoe and Paul can go beyond round four in the Wimbledon.

I see them all playing, at least two of them playing. Frances Tiafoe and I think Paul’s there next week. So I expect to see you know a couple of those guys in the second week at Wimbledon. You know, that means fourth round on, and I think there’s a chance for one or two of them to go real deep.”

When talking about American players, we’ve yet to see a performance that will show the level their fans expect. However, along with McEnroe, many fans will be hoping that they see it in Wimbledon.
