The French player was looking to get his form back at Monte Carlo after a bittersweet Indian Wells and Miami Open. His biggest victory came against Daniil Medvedev, in the round of 32 at the Indian Wells.

No doubt, the recent injury will be a big setback for the 22-ranked ATP player. Earlier at the Australian Open, the French Player expressed his desire to win at least one Grand Slam title before his retirement. He was already looking forward to his home Grand Slam tournament, i.e. the French Open. Unfortunately, his foot injury derailed his current plans momentarily.
However, he gave an assurance about his potential comeback in that tweet. Currently, Monfils will try to recover from the injury, as he is planning to make a return at the Madrid Open. There will be plenty of red soil tournaments before the French Open and he will get enough time to prepare for his home Grand Slam in Paris.
