The 41-year-old in a recent interview revealed one match which is above all for him.

What is Federer’s favorite match?

Roger Federer recently interacted with Barbara Schett in an exclusive interview for Eurosport. The former Australian tennis star quickly asked Federer about his best match. Replying to the question, Federer accepted it took him time to list down and decide. However, he finally went with the 2004 US Open final.

It was the first US Open title for Federer and here’s why it was special. “For me, special is the US Open final against Leighton Hewitt where I win 6–0, 7–6, 6–0. Doesn’t happen like this in Grand Slam finals like you take off like that first set. A little wobble in the second, then you dominate in the third again. For me, that match was perfect. I was on top of the world,” Federer said.

He further added, “I think it was my third slam. World number one showed the world that I was deserving world number 1 at what level. It was against a guy who I respect so much and I hope I see him again soon.
If I look back, I would always like to play that match again,” he concluded.

Roger Federer vs Lleyton Hewitt Head to head

Australian tennis star Lleyton Hewitt was among the few challenging opponents of Federer. The two played for the first time in the year 1999, where Hewitt won in three sets. He also took the next two matches, before Federer defeated the Aussie for the first time in the year 2000.
