While his career has been on an upswing since his maiden Grand Slam championship win at the US Open last year, Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem also seems to be making rapid strides up the all-time money makers’ list in the men’s game.

Thiem, who dropped to Number 4 in the singles rankings after his fourth-round defeat to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov at this year’s Australian Open, has moved up to 10 in the all-time list of top earners in men’s tennis.

Dominic Thiem has raked in $28,532,061 in career prize money earnings

The ATP has released its latest list of top-earning male tennis stars across generations, featuring Thiem at Number 10 with gross earnings of $28,532,061.

However, it is to be noted in this context that the list only ranks players on the basis of their career prize money earnings and not what they rake in through appearance fees, sponsorships, or endorsements.

Novak Djokovic, who clinched an unprecedented ninth Australian Open title this year, tops the charts with an eye-popping $147,751,252 in career prize money earnings.

Old enemy Roger Federer, who is currently tied with Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles in men’s tennis, at 20 apiece, is significantly adrift at second in the rankings with a career prize money purse of $129,946,683.

The World 5 has been out of action for over a year since undergoing a knee surgery after last year’s Australian Open and it clearly had an impact on his court earnings while enabling the Serb to extend his lead.

Rafael Nadal ranks third with a career prize money purse of $123,843,596

Nadal, who lifted a record 13th French Open title last year, equaling Federer’s career haul of Major trophies, sits third on the list with gross prize money earnings of $123,843,596.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is at fourth on the money-makers list, with career court earnings of $61,797,815.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka is the only other contemporary star, apart from the ‘Big Four’ and Thiem, to feature in the Top-10. The veteran Swiss star is up in sixth place with a career prize money purse of $34,743,203.

Yesteryear stalwarts, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi take the fifth and eighth places respectively in the money charts with career court winnings of $43,280,489 and $31,152,975.
