2020 US Open winner Dominic Thiem is one of the most highly-rated players in the men’s circuit. His heroics in the past season make him a serious contender for the greatest accolades in the game. The Austrian star won his maiden Grand Slam title on his fourth attempt. Prior to that, he reached a final on three occasions.

World No. 3 Dominic Thiem is currently in Australia, preparing for the various events to be played in Melbourne. First, Thiem is representing his nation in the second edition of the ATP Cup. In the opening round tie against Italy, Dominic was up against Matteo Berrettini and lost the match in straight sets.

Dominic Thiem spends time with school kids in Melbourne

On his day off, the Austrian player spent time with school children at the Fawkner Park Tennis Club in Melbourne. The 27-year-old interacted with kids, sharing tips and playing with them. It was a special moment for the kids present there to see one of the world’s best players, and they will remember this interaction for a long time. At the end of their meeting, Thiem posed for a picture with all the kids present there. 

After losing his first match at the ATP Cup, Thiem and team Austria will face France tomorrow. During that tie, Dominic will face French tennis player Gael Monfils and will need to win the match to put Austria in a comfortable position to win the tie.

After the ATP Cup, Dominic will focus on the first Grand Slam of the season, the Australian Open 2021. In the previous year, he reached the final and lost to the Serbian star Novak Djokovic.
