Tennis has a very hectic schedule with nearly 178 Tournaments including Grand Slams. To crunch these in available 365 days is not an easy task. It results in a lot of traveling and playing on at least alternate days for participating players. US tennis player, Noah Rubin gives insights and solutions for the situation.
While talking to the press after his Round of-16 match in Portugal, Noah shared his experience and the issue he wants ATP to address.

Noah Rubin talks about traveling issues and gives his solution
Noah opened up to the media about the difficulties he faced in his tennis career. As a young player, he was ready to participate in as many matches and worry less about the results. However, after years of experience and maturity, he started to play in selective tournaments.
But the main issue that he targeted was that the tournament’s venues were very far, which was time-consuming and also attracts huge traveling costs. Noah pointed out this issue and also shared his idea for smoother operations.

He said, “I think after seeing everything that’s going on without a full change in the sport, I think one thing that has to happen is tournaments within the geographic location.” As per Noah, it would save a lot of traveling and headaches for the players.
Elaborating on the topic, Noah further said, “you know don’t force Americans to go outside the us don’t force you know Portuguese you know let them stay inside a kind of Spain, Portugal a few locations there and then Australia you know keep them out there”

He also gave a reference to various difficult ongoing situations like pandemic and War. They make it tough for players to go away from home for matches. Traveling is not only expensive but also kind of heartache for many players on the tour.
Though Rubin has a valid point, tennis is a global sport, and confining it to smaller geographical areas might not be ideal for the betterment of the sport. It will certainly rob fans of watching their stars and idols in their home country.
