Emphasizing his off-court journey, the former tennis ace recently opened up about his idea of retirement. Unlike many other athletes in the sporting community, the Swiss Maestro has a totally disparate approach towards the same as he draws similarities between retirement and marriage.

Roger Federer spoke candidly about his post-retirement journey

It was an emotional moment for the 42-year-old during the previous season’s Laver Cup where he played his farewell match. Although many would have assumed the former tennis star would be missing the game, his remarks suggest otherwise. While comparing the idea of retirement to marriage, Federer recently opened up about how he is enjoying his off-court journey.

He said, “I feel like retirement is a bit like getting married. When you get married, you think things haven’t changed, but in fact everything has… When it was all over, I felt so relieved. Of course, it’s also a pity not being able to return to the tour and not being able to see fans and friends from all over the world as regularly as before.”

The Swiss tennis legend further asserted that he is quite glad that he doesn’t have to gear up for any competitive matchup. Federer added, “But it feels good when I wake up and don’t have to walk onto the court with physical pain and play a game I’m not ready for.”

The 20-time singles Grand Slam champion’s recent disclosures have made it clear that he is enjoying his post-retirement journey. However, the ATP icon recently picked up his racket once again, albeit, for his business duties.

Federer recently graced the tennis courts in New York

Roger Federer-backed brand, On, organized a tennis event for the young athletes who are a part of the Kings County Tennis League. And it was none other than the Swiss Maestro himself who adorned the courts in New York, where he also played a game of tennis with kids at the academy. Being one of the tennis ‘GOATs’, Federer also imparted important expertise about the sport. Later, the young brand ambassadors of the sportswear company, Ben Shelton and Iga Świątek also joined the ATP legend as they elegantly posed together at the children’s tennis academy.
