From being the oldest world number one to amassing the most major titles in the history of the sport, Novak Djokovic is the epitome of unmatched skills. But is he done dominating on the tennis court with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz‘s rise? The 36-year-old tennis legend’s former coach, Marian Vajda, recently gave an open warning to his French Open opponents to hold on to the seats and not write off his name, as he’s still got a long run, before signing off.

As Vajda has claimed, “Novak knows how to do it.” Considering the level of experience he has gained due to his really lengthy journey in tennis, the fraternity needs to wait while he is prepping himself with a “new method.” Let’s take a look at what’s more the world-number-one-ranked tennis player’s former coach has to say about his struggling performances on the court.

The 59-year-old tennis coach opened up in a recent interview with Unitennis about how Djokovic is trying to find the right balance and adapt according to the competitiveness of the current tennis circuit. He stated, “The greatest motivation for him is the Slams and the Olympics. So he has to find the time to prepare, to train well, but he can’t put the same focus on the other tournaments as well. The real question, I think, is whether this new method will still succeed in making him win. But Novak knows how to do it, he’s very smart and none of the new top players have his experience, simply because of his age.”

In addition, he further said, “Also last year he missed several tournaments such as Indian Wells and Miami but then he won Roland Garros, made the final at Wimbledon and won the US Open. So I don’t think he’s done winning and this year he’s going to prove it once again.”

Subsequently, in the same interview, he also talked about how he was shocked to learn about Djokovic’s split with his coach, Goran Ivanisevic.

Marian Vajda Reacts to Djokovic’s Coaching Change

The news of Djokovic’s splitting up with Ivanisevic has been the center of attraction for a while. Well, now his ex-coach Vajda has added a new opinion revealing the hardships of being the coach for the world’s number-one player. He stated, “Well, no, I didn’t expect that. I read about it in the newspapers like everyone else, so my opinion is based only on what I have read in the last few days. I was quite surprised because in the last few years Novak has always been comfortable with him, he was totally part of the team.”

He further added, “You know, in tennis, the coach is constantly under scrutiny. The pressure of this sport is exhausting even for the coach. In football when a team loses, it’s never the fault of a single individual, you don’t go and look at how the coach worked every time to prepare for that game. Whereas when a tennis player loses, the coach is immediately questioned.”
