The two all-time GOATs Roger Federer and Lionel Messi have written appreciative notes for each other. They have also shared their respect and love for each other’s attitudes towards sports. When the ‘Swiss Maestro’ retired, the legendary footballer wrote a heartfelt note communicating his respect for Federer.

However, this time, the retired tennis GOAT has penned a sincere three-paragraphed note to Messi. The note follows Messi’s journey and has Federer admiring the star footballer and his incredible approach to his sport.

Time.com recently released the open letter from the Swiss Maestro to Lionel Messi. In the letter, Federer expressed his respect for Messi and talked about his journey as a footballer. He calls Messi a magician, noting his exceptional service to the nation and to clubs through his phenomenal sports skills.

He wrote in the letter, “Lionel Messi’s goal-scoring records and championship wins need no recounting here. What stands out to me about Messi, 35, is his consistent greatness over so many years. This is so difficult to achieve and then maintain. He dribbles like a magician, and his angular passes are works of art. His awareness and anticipation are almost beyond comprehension.”

Federer also expressed the unforgettable post-winning celebration of the fans that made it to the extreme level on the streets of Buenos Aires. Federer also shared his feelings about his all-time favorite footballers, Argentina’s legends Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta. He said he found himself lucky to have met both. He writes, “Growing up, Diego Maradona and Gabreil Batistuta were my favorite Argentina players. I was lucky enough to meet both of them. They inspired me.”

Federer strongly believes that Messi has the ability to inspire a future generation in the sport. He concluded his letter in a very sweet manner as he advised all sports lovers to not take their eyes off the screen while Messi is on the field since it would cause a big loss to miss his artistry on the ground! He ends, “Now Messi can inspire future generations. I can only hope we get to see his unique creativity and artistry for a little bit longer. Don’t blink too often as Messi performs on the pitch. You can miss something incredible from the man of the moment.”
