Czech Republican tennis player Jakub Mensik revealed his reason for attending the ATP Qatar tournament this year. Mensik faced off against Andrey Rublev in the finals in Doha. However, the Czech tennis star defeated Rublev to snatch his entry to the semifinals. After his victory, this eighteen-year-old tennis player revealed his reasons for playing the championship.

Mensik impressed the tennis fraternity with an amazing performance in the 2023 US Open. Now, again he made a great impression by entering the semifinals of the Qatar Open singles. However, Mensik’s reason for participation brought fans a great surprise.

Recently, the official Instagram account of Tennis TV along with Qatar Tennis shared an image where Mensik answered his reasons for choosing ATP 250 tournament. The Interviewer asked him by saying- “THERE’S A NEW ATP NEXT GEN RULE THAT SAYS PLAYERS 20 AND YOUNGER RANKED IN THE TOP 250 HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER MAIN DRAW ATP 250 YOU CHOSE DOHA. WHY?” Mensik said- “UH.. BECAUSE I RECEIVED A FREE IPHONE.” 

Mensik’s post-victory answer has left his fans surprised. Adding a nice smile with his answer, Mensik added- “I have to say that now that I didn’t have that opportunity sooner. So for me, this was the first option to play this tournament.”

Jakub Mensik’s simple response expressed the Czech Republican tennis star’s innocence to his fans. Despite defeating a powerful opponent like Rublev, Mensik was spotted in a calm and confident mode.

Mensik defeated Rublev by 6-4 and 7-6(6) to enter the tournament’s finals. Powered by his style, Mensik showed immense aggression on the court and almost stunned a pro like Rublev with his skills.

After his victory, Mensik commented- “It’s just been an incredible week from the beginning I played very well and I knew I could play with the big players. It’s an amazing feeling to reach the semi-finals after beating those good players, But the job is not done yet. Hopefully I can play like this again in the semis tomorrow and go on to make the final.”
