A former American tennis player, James Blake, introduced the tribute video for Isner and shared some heartfelt words for him. Isner was already visibly teary-eyed. The two players go way back. After Blake shared a few thoughtful words on Isner’s long career, the former Top 10 player recalled, “I lived with James for 3 months, ate all his food & never paid him back, never paid him rent. He was very good to me.”

At this touching moment, Isner’s toddler son walked up to him on the court. The American player then picked up his son and hugged him on the court, kissing him on the head as the emotions took over completely.

Isner has now etched his name in the tennis record books. He ranked as high as No. 8 and reached a Wimbledon semifinal in 2018. Announcing that the U.S. Open ’23 will be his final tournament, Isner wrote on social media: “This transition won’t be easy but I’m looking forward to every second of it with my amazing family.” He also shared a photo of himself, his wife, and their four kids. “Time to lace ‘em up one last time,” the 38-year-old added, referring to the year’s last major tournament.
