Boris Becker, the Geman tennis professional, found himself caught in shackles in April after his asset fraud surfaced. The former world no.1 was sentenced to 30 months of jail term for hiding £2.5million worth of assets and loans to avoid paying his debts. Boris shuffled his assets amongst his ex-wife Barbra and estranged wife Lily. In addition, he concealed his shares in a tech firm to fake a bankruptcy in June 2017. Hence, evading almost 50 million pounds worth of creditors’ money over an unpaid estate loan of 3 million pounds.

However, this isn’t the end. The recent court ruling might add to his misery by snatching his home out of his hands.

Boris Becker might have to leave England

Since 2012, Becker is a resident of Great Britain. As he never applied for citizenship and is still a foreigner, he would have to deal with the consequences related to the same. According to the Home Office, any foreigner serving sentence longer than 12 months is bound to be deported at the earliest opportunity for the public good.

Novak Djokovic about Becker’s Sentence

Novak Djokovic trained under Becker for three years, starting in December 2013. In those three years, Novak claimed two Wimbledon Championships, two Australian Open, one French Open, and one US Open title. Djokovic shares a bond with Becker and was heartbroken when he came to know that the German will be jailed for two and half years. He said, “As his friend, I’m super sad for him.”

“I just hope he will go through this period that he has to be in jail and that when he comes out he’s able to live his life – I don’t know if we’ll use the word ”normal” because life is definitely changing for anybody going to prison, especially for that long of a time.” He added.
