The Serbian icon, who initially raised doubts over his Olympics participation after winning Wimbledon title, had decided to go for glory as he reached the third-round with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.

Besides tennis, the Serb appears to be the favorite player in the village right now. Every athlete, irrespective of countries have been lining up to take photos with the tennis legend after witnessing his heroics during the majors this season.

Also, the selfies involving Djokovic have gone viral on the internet and brought the sporting world closer with their eyes focused on Olympics. Before Tokyo, there were doubts over the Serb’s popularity amongst the masses.

With Federer and Nadal leading the popularity meter for so long, it can be safely assumed that it’s Djokovic’s turn to receive some affection from fans as well as his fellow athletes. The Serb deserves every accolade that’s coming his way during his stint at Tokyo this year.

When asked about his craze in the Olympics village, the 20-time grand slam champion was grateful of the appreciation he is getting at the moment.

Lots of photos and nice words, it feels(fills) me with positive energy. I am enjoying every single moment here at the Olympics”,?told the Serb.

Djokovic also mentioned how he wanted to learn from athletes playing other sports. The world number one is known for his heart-felt appreciations for his opponents, both on and off the court.

I know that a lot of people follow me, but for me, every athlete is a colleague of mine ? I want to ask and to learn from them, I?m open-minded”,?concluded Novak.

The Tokyo Olympics has shown the tennis world that Djokovic is as widely appreciated as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Already the favorite to win gold at Tokyo, the world number one player looks to be on the right path to achieve the first-ever men’s singles golden slam this year.
