If there’s an athlete who is currently loved at the Olympics village in Tokyo by players from every other nation, it has to be Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian icon, who initially raised doubts over his Olympics participation after winning Wimbledon title, had decided to go for glory as he reached the third-round with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.

Amidst the scorching heat which forced a few players to retire and making life difficult for every athlete, Djokovic had managed to win both of his matches in straight sets.

Besides tennis, the Serb appears to be the favorite player in the village right now. Every athlete, irrespective of countries have been lining up to take photos with the tennis legend after witnessing his heroics during the majors this season.

With Federer and Nadal leading the popularity meter for so long, it can be safely assumed that it’s Djokovic’s turn to receive some affection from fans as well as his fellow athletes. The Serb deserves every accolade that’s coming his way during his stint at Tokyo this year.
When asked about his craze in the Olympics village, the 20-time grand slam champion was grateful of the appreciation he is getting at the moment.
