

Alexander Zverev is just 24 years old, but he is already amongst the elite group in men’s tennis currently. A former junior World Number 1, he has gradually made his way to the top. He caught eyeballs when he won the 2014 Australian Open boys’ singles title.
Further, in his senior career, winning the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics last year was the biggest moment of his career so far. The German is also a five-time Masters 1000 champion. Additionally, he was runner-up at the 2020 US Open, losing to Dominic Thiem in the summit clash.

Although a very talented player, he has struggled for consistency at the Majors. Recently, he got featured on the cover page of a popular magazine.

The German starred in a dark-blue blazer over a white shirt. He posted a picture on his official Instagram handle with the caption, “Everything has its time.”

Talking about his critics, Zverev said, “I love to prove people wrong, and I have to prove them wrong immediately, no matter who they are or what they tell me I can’t do… on realistic terms.” Further, he added, “I have been told many times in my life that I would not achieve what I’ve achieved, that I would not succeed in sports.”

Zverev faces actions for Acapulco outburst
Earlier today, the ATP announced further actions against World Number 3 for smashing his racket on the chair of the umpire in Acapulco. He is now on probation for a year and will be fined $25,000, and suspended for eight weeks if a similar behavior happens.

This is in addition to him receiving a USD 20,000 fine for verbal abuse and a USD 20,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. Moreover, he also had to forfeit the prize money and ranking points earned in the ATP Acapulco tournament.
