Boris Becker discusses the influence of the crowd on Novak Djokovic

The German tennis legend is elated to see his former player shine on the court after a rough year. He said that those who believe that the hooting and noise of the crowd are distracting the player are mistaken.

On Eurosport Germany’s Matchball Becker show, Becker stated, “the louder and more emotional it is the better” for both the crowd and the player.” Going into the picturesque feel of it all, he stated, “It’s a theatrical play on the court, where you want to entertain your spectators.”

Being a six-time Grand Slam champion, he understands the role a crowd plays in motivating a player to perform well. He stated, “You need the feedback. The louder and more emotional it is, the better for the performances of the players, and Djokovic, in particular, thrives on that.”

Boris Becker and Novak Djokovic worked together for three years, starting in 2013. During that time, he worked as the head coach of Djokovic’s team and had a successful run. Therefore, when Becker got sent to jail, he was heartbroken and wished for his safe arrival.

Becker on Djokovic’s fake injury accusations

Becker has spent three years with Djokovic and is familiar with his ways. So, when the accusations surrounding his injury popped up, Becker came to his rescue and defended the player.

In an interview with Eurosport, he stated, despite Djokovic’s injuries, the player knows how to balance things out. He understands when to push himself and when to back off in order to avoid aggravating his injury.
