World No.2 Daniil Medvedev has booked his place in the finals of the ATP Finals 2021. The defending champion this year, he recently defeated Casper Ruud in the semi-finals of the tournament. The final scoreline of the match was 6-4, 6-2.
Medvedev has played brilliantly well after the Wimbledon Championships 2021. He won the US Open and the National Bank Open 2021 title, ended up as the runner-up of the Paris Masters 2021 and is now in the finals of the ATP Finals 2021 as well.

Coach Gilled Cervara reveals US Open 2021 win helped Daniil Medvedev to remain focussed
In a recent interview to atptour.com, Medvedev‘s coach, Gilles Cervara, disclosed how the US Open 2021 glory helped the Russian remain calm and focused.

“It helps you to try to keep focussing on the performance. When I say performance, it’s all the things around tennis: the physical side, mental side, the things we can still improve. There are a lot of things to improve all the time,” said Cervara in the interview.
He feels that there are still a number of things that Medvedev has to improve as a player.

Cervara cites the example of Rafael Nadal to emphasize his point
In the same interview, Cervara mentioned that when he was young, he used to read about Rafael Nadal saying that he needs to improve despite enjoying triumphs on the ATP Tour. He believes that it is the same case with Medvedev and him as both of them have to keep improving the small things even though they have been quite successful lately.

“Of course, the details are getting smaller and smaller. When I was younger, I read many times that Rafa said, ‘I need to improve this, this and this.’ I realised it’s exactly the same for us. It just becomes small details,” added the coach.
