Skipping Tokyo Olympics 2020, the American Taylor Fritz reached the semifinals at the Los Cabos Open in Mexico. However, during his quarterfinal clash against fellow countryman Steve Johnson, things went out of control.

After losing the opening set, Johnson stayed toe-to-toe with Fritz to drag the all-American battle deeper. But, it was an umpire decision that made the match slip from the 31-year-old.

What’s interesting is that the linesperson gave the correct call, stating that the ball was out. Yet, the chair umpire for the match, Nacho Forcadell Gil, overruled the call because it was late.

Consequently, Johnson rushed to the chair frustated and resorted to verbal abuse of the authority. He said, “F*ck you. You will watch the replay and feel like a f***ing idiot again.”

Unquestionably, Johnson might have to deal with the consequences of the outburst. Also, due to the wrong call, he found his rhythm out of place in the second set. Eventually, the focused Fritz closed the match in straight sets, winning it 6-4, 6-4.
