Tennis fans weren’t the only ones feeling the sting of Taylor Fritz’s surprise Monte Carlo defeat. His girlfriend also had a bit of a setback – literally! On one hand, No. 13 seed Taylor Fritz lost against Lorenzo Musetti on Sunday with a score of 6-4, 6-4. On the other, Fritz’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, who was also present at the tournament supporting his boyfriend, had a disappointing experience on her Monaco trip, leading her to drop a pro “tip for the girlies”.

After her boyfriends loss on the court, Riddle wrote about her unfortunate accident in an Instagram story. The update described how the gorgeous but dangerous terrain of Monte Carlo turned into her adversary. Taylor Fritz’s longtime girlfriend explained how she had tried to find her way around the area’s “really steep hills”. While she did, Morgan thought she will do okay. However, the best laid plans often go awry.

“The site at Monte Carlo is so hard to walk around at because it is all stairs/really steep hills. So I was like ok, can only wear little kitten hills and I will be fine. What I learned the hard way today was around the ground, there are these grates that your heels will go right through. And I literally face planted into this bush,” she wrote.

As soon as she got caught in the situation, she desperately tried to reach out to her friend Mia Savio, Matteo Arnaldi’s girlfriend, in an attempt to save herself. But her efforts were unsuccessful, and she became completely submerged in the greenery. ”I tried to grab @miasvaio on the way down to save me. Failed.”

In a humorous yet painful twist of events, she cautioned the women to be more careful about wearing a certain kind of heels on the ground. “Went completely fell into the vegetation. So just tip to the girlies wear thick-bottomed heels,”  Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend advised the ladies. It’s worth noting that this was the third time that Morgan Riddle went along with her boyfriend, Taylor Fritz, in the Monte Carlo event.

She visited last year to support Taylor Fritz on the ground. “Love this time of year,” Riddle captioned the IG story. Before this year, Riddle was also seen cheering Taylor Fritz during his semi-finals and quarter finals in 2023 and 2022, respectively.

However, this particular instance of Fritz’s exiting in the first round after being dealt a difficult opening test along with his girlfriend experiencing a mishap reminds us of – You can’t win them all. Thankfully, it seems like a harmless mishap, and fans will wait for Fritz’s comeback soon.
