Recently, three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray weighed in with his opinions about the banning of Russian and Belarusian tennis players from Wimbledon.

According to the British star, it’s unfair to those players who are not going to play at Wimbledon. However, he also emphasized the fact that there are more important things in life than playing tennis. Commenting on Andy’s response, a fan mocked the Brit as he didn’t support players ban. In response to that, Murray further clarified his stance.

Murray stated that he didn’t support the decision made by Wimbledon of banning Russian and Belarusian players.

“I have spoken to some of the Russian players. I’ve spoken to some of the Ukrainian players. I feel really bad for the players who aren’t allowed to play and I get that it will seem unfair to them. But I also know some of the people who work at Wimbledon, and I know how difficult a position they were in. I feel for everyone, feel for the players that can’t play, and I don’t support one side or the other.”

A user on Twitter suggested Murray to focus on what’s happening in Ukraine rather than focus on Russian tennis players. Responding to the same, Andy tweeted, “This is exactly how I finished my answer to this question. The real issue and subject getting discussed should be that Ukraine is currently being invaded and families are being killed… Some tennis players not getting to play in a tennis tournament is unimportant in the big picture.”

Apart from Murray, other top players like Nadal and Djokovic also talked about the Wimbledon ban. Incidentally, they both did not support the ban as it was unfair to all the Russian players.
