Shanghai Masters Director Michael A. Luevano talks about family man Roger Federer

In an interview with Shine, the director was asked about some of the fond memories he has of Roger Federer. Michael Luevano started by saying that he was very fortunate to have met the player several times. He has seen both Federer’s success and loss. And given the kind of bond he has with the player, it is impossible not to root for him.

He elaborated on one of the memories he has of the legend. Luevano said, “I remember walking into his suite and finding him in a tent with his two boys. The same day, he was in the quarterfinals. I’ve always found him under the highest pressure situations to be able to disconnect and just be a dad.”

Federer has two sets of identical twins. He prefers privacy when it comes to his family life. However, his children and wife have often been in the stands to support him during his matches.

Shanghai Masters is coming back in October with a packed 12-day schedule. It will start from the 4 of October and continue till the 15 of October. At the tournament, veteran Roger Federer is slated to be given the title of Icon Athlete at the 2023 Shanghai Masters in partnership with the Juss Sports Group.

He is a two-time winner of the ATP Shanghai Masters 1000 and hence, will be honored by the tournament. This will not just be a special occasion because Roger is being honored, but also because tennis is returning to China for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were first announced in 2019.

With the strict regulations finally being lifted, tennis fans now have one more tournament to look forward to – and having Federer there is the cherry atop the cake!
