After winning his maiden Wimbledon title, Carlos Alcaraz has suffered a slight dip in form. In the recently concluded US Open, he was the defending champion but bowed out of the tournament in the semifinal, losing to Daniil Medvedev of Russia. Subsequently, he also lost the top spot in the ATP rankings chart to Novak Djokovic, who won the US Open. However, he recently came under fire for supporting animal cruelty. Interestingly, a similar incident also got the Australian tennis ace, Nick Kyrgios, in trouble last year.

Fans slam Carlos Alcaraz for enjoying a cruel animal sport

Recently, an image of the Spanish sensation went viral on social media, showing him enjoying a bullfight in Murcia yesterday. Fans were already left upset by his US Open result and this image has further created anger among the tennis community.

Reacting to Alcaraz’s viral image on Twitter, one of the fans said, “Is this for real??? I really like Alcaraz but if he supports such a cruel and inhumane thing I can’t… This is really disappointing.”

Similarly, another fan too was disappointed with it, writing, “Good grief…not a good look for Carlos. This barbaric “sport” needs to be outlawed ASAP.”

Additionally, one of the Twitter users said, “Disgusting.. I’m never liking this guys again, shameful.”

On the other hand, a few fans pointed out to the sport that it needs to be stopped. One of the fans said, “I thought they were banned a few years ago,” while another one wrote, “horrible.”

This disappointment comes days after fans were expecting another face-off between Djokovic and Alcaraz. But, his decision to not participate in the Davis Cup further sowed the seeds of disappointment in fans.

Subsequently, the Australian star received bashing on social media for his actions.
