Over the years, Andy Murray has always stood tall and was a pure force to be dealt with. One of the only few players to stand head-to-toe with the Big 3, the British legend has etched his name in the history books. However, for the last few years, he has faced so many struggles and injuries in the tennis field that the star now deals with just one question: when is he going to retire?

But this can sound frustrating sometimes and Andy Murray’s mother, Judy Murray quite clearly understands this. Reflecting on her views on the same, she came ahead with a stark message for all people who have been constantly asking Murray that same question about his retirement.

In a recent revelation, Andy Murray’s mother took to X (formerly Twitter) saying: “Every single press confernece he is asked the same question. When he started on @atptour it was “ah but when r u going to win Wimbledon?” Every single time. Let him enjoy whatever time is left of his career. He is 50 in the world, has a metal hip, a bipartite patella + 4 kids,”

She suggested that when the tennis world saw the rise of Andy Murray, he was asked only one common question: about his quest for Wimbledon glory. Now that he is in his penultimate year, the question has been changed and it has come down to his retirement. She further added that it would be best to let him enjoy playing. Despite all the hardship, Murray is in the top 50 in the rankings and showcases the will to do more every day. So, it would be better to not poke him every single time with the same message.

However, this is not the first time when prominent names have come ahead in the Brit’s defense. A few weeks earlier, two of the major entities in tennis, Martina Navratilova and Andy Roddick came ahead in the defence of the British legend.

Martina Navratilova and Andy Roddick spark their views as they slam a fan who questions the British legend’s retirement

While the question surrounding retirement has always circled Murray, he has always been quick to dismiss all the rumors and present his will to continue further. However, a struggling form in recent tournaments has not allowed him to progress further which has eventually led to criticism from the fans.

A fan suggested that if he continues to play like this, it could affect the legacy that he built all these years. However, Martina Navratilova and Roddick were quick to come to Murray’s rescue and slammed the fan who questioned the legacy of Murray.

While suggesting that his legacy won’t have any effect whatsoever, Martina Navratilova suggested: “Whenever Andy decides. Not one match sooner or later. And his legacy will be just fine, don’t you worry about it!”.

Andy Roddick also came ahead and slammed the fan: “Preach! Imagine telling an accomplished iconic adult your opinion on what they should choose for work and when they should do it …. This is such a dumb, thirsty article. Can’t take a legacy away. Accomplishment lives forever,”.

Well, along with this, Andy Murray stood up for himself and put an end to that fan’s question: “Tarnishing my legacy? Do me a favour. I’m in a terrible moment right now I’ll give you that. Most people would quit and give up in my situation right now. But I’m not most people and my mind works differently. I won’t quit. I will keep fighting and working to produce the performances I know I’m capable of,”

That just shows apart from being his own strongest supporter, he has the biggest names in tennis joined hands to have his back. Let us know your thoughts on this in the comment section below!
