Roger Federer is eyeing a strong comeback. Proof of the same can be seen on his social media handles where he is regularly putting his training updates. After being out of the tour for more than 9 months, Federer recently announced that he will make a comeback at the Swiss Indoors Basel later this year.

He last played at the 2021 Wimbledon where he suffered a first-round loss. Post the loss, he underwent a third surgery on his knee. Even since then, he has been out of the tour. Steadily recovering from the injury, Federer looks extremely confident about his comeback. However, understanding the seriousness of his knee, he is still awaiting the doctor’s approval.

Roger Federer awaits his doctor’s approval

Roger Federer is known for his love of food. Travelling the world, the Swiss maestro makes sure to have the best food of that place. However, one of his favorite places to eat remains a restaurant in Switzerland named, Schloss Schauenstein. Recently, he visited the restaurant with her wife Mirka Federer. While enjoying his time at the restaurant, Federer talked about his return to the sport.

The 40-year-old is constantly giving his fans glimpse of his intense training updates. In the updates, the 20-time Grand Slam champion can be seen working on a variety of aspects like strength, movement, flexibility, agility, etc. However, even though he is giving his all to make a strong comeback, he still awaits doctor’s approval.

Talking about his road to recovery, Federer said, “I’m waiting for the doctors’ okay. I’m ready to give it my all again. I feel like a racehorse scratching its stall and wanting to race.”

Federer is waiting for his doctor’s approval. However, that hasn’t stopped him from being confident about a strong return. Currently training in a fitness center, the former World No. 1 hopes to be back outdoors soon, running in the ground. Like his early before his surgery, Federer also hopes to come home exhausted every day.

He said, “In the summer I hope to be able to hit the ground running. I’m looking forward to coming home in the evening after a hard day’s training and being completely exhausted.”

While Federer awaits his doctor’s approval for certain training, he is giving his all in what he can currently. Going by the announcement, he will make his return to tennis in September at the Laver Cup. However, he will make a comeback on the tour a month later at the Swiss Indoors Basel where he will eye his 11th title.
