Australian Open Summer Smash is set to take place on January 30. The event will see Australia’s top Fortnite players battle out against each other. The $100,000 invitational event will be held online. However, fans will be able to see the live telecast on the Australian Open’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

With the Fortnite players ready for the mega battle, the 2022 men’s singles finalist, Daniil Medvedev, has some advice for them. In a video posted by the Australian Open on Friday, 28th January, some of the most well-known tennis players spoke about Fortnite.

The video was a build-up of tomorrow’s event, just before the Men’s singles finals.

Medvedev’s advice for the top Fortnite players

The video posted by the Australian Open page was titled AO Summer Smash featuring Fortnite is Back! | Australian Open 2022. The video saw players like Gael Monfils and Taylor Fritz give their take on the game. However, it was Medvedev’s advice that caught everyone’s attention.

The Russian world number 2 took a tennis lesson and advised the players to not give up. He said, “I actually played Fortnite I was not so good. If I would have to give advice from tennis, just fight till the end. “

The $100,000 USD prize pool will be evenly split between the winners and a charity of their choice. Machar Reid, Head of Innovation, Tennis Australia said, The AO Summer Smash featuring Fortnite will again see some of the best gamers do battle just hours before the world’s tennis players compete for the AO title,”

Daniil Medvedev into the final of Australian Open 2022

After beating Tsitsipas in the semi-final, Daniil Medvedev is in the final of the Australian Open. The Russian will face 2009 champion, Rafael Nadal, at Rod Laver Arena on 30th January.  

Having a winning start to the 2022 season, both the players entered the Australian Open on a confident note. Both continued their form at the Australian Open, crossing the initial rounds with ease.

The two have faced off against each other 4 times in the past. Going head to head, the Spaniard leads the comparison 3-2. Medvedev last faced Nadal in 2020 at the Nitto ATP Finals, beating the Spaniard 3-6,7-6,6-3.
