Carlos Alcaraz lived up to his ‘young sensation’ title as he won Miami open 2022 in an emphatic fashion. With a second title in a short period of time, Alcaraz inches closer to make a breakthrough into top-10. Many players congratulated him on social media following his huge triumph and the list includes fellow countryman Rafael Nadal.

Carlos Alcaraz’s win was special for the Spanish legend as he has never won the title despite reaching the finals on five different occasions.

Spanish No. 1 player Rafael Nadal sends his congrats to Alcaraz with a joyous and encouraging message. He didn’t forget the runner-up Caser Rudd as the Norwegian gave his best in his first-ever Masters 1000 final, where he was eventually defeated by red-hot Carlos.

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz shared a close bond as the latter trained in Nadal’s academy. The Spanish duo did meet in the semi-finals of Indian Wells, where Nadal broke Carlos’ resistance and won a three-set thriller.

Rafael Nadal and Alcaraz’s head-to-head

18-year-old Alcaraz is touted to be the next big thing in tennis and was often compared to Rafael Nadal over the past few years. Though Nadal holds a perfect 2-0 record against Alcaraz, there is no denying that the young boy has improved a lot and gave a tough fight in their recent meeting in the Californian desert.

As far as similarities go, Alcaraz looks to be on the right path to emulate Nadal. Alcaraz’s Croatia Open victory earned him the record of being the youngest Spanish player to win an ATP tour Title.

After consecutive semi-final appearances at Indian Wells and Miami, Alcaraz surpassed Rafael Nadal to become the youngest ATP player to achieve this feat. Keeping this track record, Alcaraz might challenge Nadal in the next few seasons and could very well clinch few important titles himself.
