No matter how long the debate lasts, the records are out there for everyone to see. Novak Djokovic has the undisputed record of winning 24 Grand Slam titles in the ATP Tour. The GOAT debate has dragged on between Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer with fans bringing in not just on-court performance but also traits like off-court personalities to support their arguments. However, for the ex-coach of Andre Agassi, Darren Cahill, it is about who has performed the best on the court.

He recently opened up about the GOAT debate based on who has had the best career on the court amongst the three legends. Hailing the other two, Darren Cahill dwelled upon why the third one is the greatest of all time.

The tennis realm is divided by the biases it holds for either of these tennis stars. All three players have brought immense popularity to the sport, pushing each other to perform their best on the court. However, there is only one GOAT for every fan, and for Andre Agassi’s ex-coach, Darren Cahill, it is Novak Djokovic. Cahill is a former player and coach, who is well known for his coaching stints with Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi. Under his guidance, Hewitt became youngest ever world No.1, while Agassi became the oldest player to become the ATP No.1 in 2003.

In the podcast Advantage Connors, Darren Cahill stated, “To win 24 of these things. The guy is the greatest though I’ve ever seen. I don’t think there’s any question about this anymore.”

However, he also differentiated that being the GOAT does not mean he has to be everyone’s favorite. He dwelled on the matter, and said, “We can all have our favorites. Roger, Rafa, Rod Laver.”

However, for him, it matters what he has done and in what circumstances he has done it. He stated, “But to do what Novak’s done and come from way behind when Rafa and Roger had a big grand slam total, and actually pass them on the Grand Slam total; remarkable performance.”

This is the criterion that has made Cahill admire Djokovic more than the other two legends.

And now, even if the tennis realm misses the other two legends, Djokovic is happily basking in his 24 Grand Slam titles glory at the moment.
