Former Wimbledon champion speaks on Novak Djokovic’s obsession
Former World No. 7, Marion Bartoli, in an interview with Tennis Majors, openly talked about the obsession of Novak Djokovic. According to her, Djokovic’s biggest passion is to lift that 21st Grand Slam trophy in the coming year.
Bartoli stated, ” But I think ultimately what Novak wants is to beat the 20 Grand Slam record. I think it’s the only obsession he’s having.” Currently, Djokovic is tied with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at 20 Major titles.

Novak Djokovic made history by finishing the year-end ranking as No. 1 for the seventh time, surpassing Pete Sampras’ record of six years. Marion Bartoli believes now it’s just a matter of time till Djokovic lifts that historic 21st Major.
” I think what matters the most for him now was to beat Pete Sampras record of finishing the year number one and now it’s to just get to 21 and 22 so he makes sure that Nadal and Federer can’t catch him back. So I think that’s going to be the only obsession he’s going to have next year,” she added.
