Frances Tiafoe has shown immense potential since his junior days in tennis. Many tennis pundits have billed him as one of the hottest American prospects in men’s tennis currently. Moreover, he is coming off a brilliant 2021 season that saw him secure many top-10 victories.
Tiafoe emerged onto the big stage when he won his first ATP title as a 20-year-old. He won the 2018 Delray Beach Open, defeating the likes of Juan Martin del Potro and Denis Shapovalov en route to his maiden ATP title. In doing so, he became the youngest American champion since Roddick, 19, at 2002 Houston.

After the Australian Open 2022, Tiafoe had decided to take an indefinite break from tennis owing to an elbow injury. However, the American has delivered some exciting news to his fans regarding his comeback.
Frances Tiafoe to make a comeback in Indian Wells
The 24-year-old was thrilled to announce the news of his comeback. He took to Instagram to share this good news with his fans. Talking about his comeback, he said, “After dealing with my elbow for a good minute now. Happy to say I’m back. I’ll be competing at Indian wells. I couldn’t be more excited to get out there and put on a show for y’all. See y’all soon.”

This comes as big positive news for Tiafoe who is looking to climb the ladder in the ATP rankings. Given that he had taken an indefinite break from the game, his return might well have come in time ahead of some big tournaments coming up. Recently, he practiced with World Number 1, Daniil Medvedev, ahead of his participation in Indian Wells.

Tiafoe has been handed a bye in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. He will face the winner of Adrian Mannarino vs Brandon Nakashima’s match in the second round. A potential clash with the seventh seed, Andrey Rublev, will await the American in the third round.
