Hilarious scenes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium! Fans burst out in laughter after seeing a bizarre interruption in the QF featuring America’s Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov. The score read 6-3, 4-3, in favor of the American tennis star. The game was well poised at 30-30 when an insect suddenly started to disrupt the match, and caused trouble to one particular person on the court.

Tiafoe’s clash against Dimitrov carried a lot of buzz, with Roger Federer in attendance. Following the conclusion, Tiafoe reached the US Open semifinal for the first time in his career. Despite the achievements, the ball boy running around will be remembered as an iconic moment.

He was seen making multiple attempts to catch an insect. After trying his luck for some time, the young boy finally managed to catch it with his hand. However, we have already seen a similar interruption during the first major tournament of the 2024 season as well. It happened twice during the 2024 AO. Andrey Rublev was even spotted kneeling down on the floor to catch a bug.

The match was interrupted and although Rublev struggled a bit to catch that bug initially, later on, he successfully managed to put the ‘uninvited guest’ on his palm and hand it to a ball girl. Let’s take a look at some other similar incidents featuring these bizarre-yet-so-funny interruptions in the racquet sport.

Is it the second time Frances Tiafoe has witnessed a funny interruption while playing?

Well, yes that’s true! During the 2022 Miami Open, Frances Tiafoe was pranked by one of his coaches during the practice session. Tiafoe was getting ready to launch his fiery serve and then all of a sudden he saw a snake right behind him. He quickly jumped out of fear but later on burst into laughter when he found that it was a fake snake.

That was a prank, but many such funny incidents really took place in the courts in the past. For example, during the 2024 AO itself, Emma Raducanu’s match against Shelby Rogers was stopped by an uninvited guest! It was a large beetle and both the players were surprised to see it making a grand entry onto the court. Fans were initially stunned but later on, even they erupted in laughter seeing its slow march of defiance.

Then again at the 2024 Indian Wells Masters, we saw Carlos Alcaraz getting stung by a bee. Although it was a painful experience, Alcaraz later went on to win the title. He even clinched two major titles after that incident. Some believe that bees are lucky and bring good fortune. According to them, getting stung by a bee is like an invitation to look within and make necessary changes for your well-being.

We don’t know about the truth of this fact but it’s quite certain that Alcaraz surely got some ‘good luck’ after that incident! There have been many such incidents in the past. We even saw Naomi Osaka saving a butterfly during her match. So, these things are quite common in the tennis world. Which one is your favorite moment among these, though?
