Daniil Medvedev goes ballistic on the court at Indian Wells, bends to check if it’s really hard

Although we have seen previous incidents of court rage from players, this one definitely stands out. After losing his first set to Alexander Zverev 7-6, Medvedev made it a point to talk about the court. The 2021 US Open Champion is not having it and he will not keep quiet about his problems. However, what none of the fans expected was Medvedev going above and beyond to criticize the court at Indian Wells. Tennis Channel on Twitter has already covered the incident, and it is spreading like wildfire among tennis enthusiasts who are following the match.

After the first set, Medvedev is seen sitting down with a disappointed and angry expression on his face. He turns to the chair umpire and says, “It’s a disgrace to sport this court. Should be banned from playing here. Freaking disgrace to the sport, this freaking court.”

He does not stop as he goes on, “And they call it hard court. What a shame to call this awful court a hard court. I’ll go to the toilet but I don’t care, give me a time violation, I’m going to be as slow as this court.”

Medvedev’s frustration with the court is evident as he will even go through a time violation if it means escaping this court. Upon being called out for violation of conduct, Medvedev says, “If they allow us to play on such court, I can allow myself to do whatever I want.”

This episode goes on the list as another time that Medvedev lost his temper in a high-tension situation. However, with the second set currently in progress, it remains to be seen if Medvedev can focus on his game and cut off the distraction that the court is causing him.
