‘It’s Going to Be Difficult’ – Felix Auger-Aliassime Says It Will Not Be Easy for Rafael Nadal at the French Open 2022

At 35, Rafael Nadal is defying age to dominate his opponents on the tennis court. Like always, the Spaniard has shown tremendous grit and determination to have a successful 2022 season to date. Further, in yet another come-from-behind victory, Nadal defeated the Canadian youngster, Felix Auger-Aliassime, in the fourth round of the French Open 2022.
Just when Felix was sensing a victory against Nadal, the latter brought his A-game forward to prevail over Felix. In the quarterfinals, Nadal is set to face the defending champion, Novak Djokovic. After their match, Felix opened up about Nadal’s chances at the tournament.

During the post-match interview, the interviewer asked Felix whether Nadal could defeat Djokovic in his upcoming match. Felix replied, “I wish Rafa the very best, I admire him greatly in everything that he’s done. He’s somebody who I really like, and so I wish him the very best for the next match. But then I think that he also knows that it’s going to be difficult. We played for a long time today and it’s still the quarter-finals and afterwards there’s still two more matches to win to win the tournament. Rafa is coming here to win the tournament.”

Further, he added, “So as I said, I really wish him the very best, but it will be a monumental effort for him, I think, to win. But as he and Novak have always done, they will give it their all right through to the end and it will be a great battle.”

Nadal looking to avenge his French Open 2021 defeat
Last year, Djokovic defeated Nadal in the semifinals of Roland Garros. It was a grueling encounter, with Djokovic coming out on top in a four-sett thriller 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-2. The Spaniard will be determined to avenge his defeat against his great rival as they square off again this year.
