The 27-year-old has a promising future ahead and French tennis star Gael Monfils predicts nothing but success for the hard-hitting talent.

Thiem enjoyed a wonderful campaign at Flushing Meadows this year and he placed a cherry on the cake with a brilliant performance in the Finals. He sealed a historic win by coming back from two-sets against German Alexander Zverev in a thrilling encounter.

As for Roland Garros, Gael Monfils has a strong feeling that Thiem will seal the title next year. There are a lot of expectations riding on the Austrian in 2021, and 34-year-old Monfils is optimistic about the Austrian’s chances.

“He made the final at the Australian Open, he won the US Open, at Roland he has already made two finals, so obviously, I can see him confirming next year. I think he hasn’t gone far from the Masters in 2020 yet,” Monfils said (Quotes translated from French via Google).

Monfils is an athlete who has faced the brilliance of Dominic Thiem on the court. In fact, the Frenchman has locked horns with Thiem six times in his career but has never managed to secure a single victory. 

Their most recent meeting came at Australian Open 2020 and Thiem steamrolled past Monfils in straight sets. Their matches have been entertaining in the past and Monfils detailed how the Austrian can deceive opponents with his wide range of skills.

“What is strong about him is the intensity he manages to put on each ball and on each point, the physical density he imposes on his opponents is impressive. It’s very hard to master when you are in front and its physical density, it’s impressive, it’s Nadal’s style,” expressed Monfils. 

Dominic Thiem has finally marked his name as a Grand Slam winner and he’s destined to attain more success in his career. Winning every Majors tournament next year is a tough ask, but can the 27-year-old play hard and clinch Roland Garros next season?
