Boris Becker thinks Rafael Nadal’s time on the court is not quite a lot

The German tennis legend came back on Christmas after getting released early from prison. He has been following Nadal’s journey and evaluated how things are going to look for the Spanish tennis legend in the future.

In Eurosport Germany’s Matchball Becker show Boris Becker stated, “We’ve been talking about the change of generation for a long time, and then Nadal comes along last year.” It was obviously a huge deal as the 37-year-old took down major players to clinch the two Grand Slam titles.

However, he also stated, “The question was: Will he play until he’s 40? I don’t think so. Yesterday was already the first step towards his retirement.” Talking about his Australian Open mid-match injury, Becker revealed, “At this age, it takes even longer to get back into shape.”

Conclusively he gave his verdict and said, “I hope and pray that he will get well soon, but I think his days are numbered.”

Following the Spaniard’s performance in 2022 was both delightful and painful. Winning two Grand Slam titles, he scripted history by winning 22 Grand Slam titles. However, his repetitive injuries did not make anyone feel better.

What is the update on the injury of Rafael Nadal?

The mid-match injury has turned out to be worse than expected. Irrespective of facing an injury, Nadal put up a fight till the end. Nonetheless, McDonald prevailed. However, what did not come out at that point was the fact that Rafa has sustained a major injury. 

The Spanish tennis legend has faced a Grade 2 injury of the iliopsoas on his left leg. The severe injury is something that has worried Nadal fans. And even though no one wants to accept the reality, the 37-year-old still has the skills but his body is not matching up to that level.

According to reports, Nadal will be out of action for 6-8 weeks and this absence will put a dent to his ATP rankings as there is a great chance of him falling out of top-10 for the first time in years.
