Swiss maestro, Roger Federer called time on his illustrious career, ending months of speculation surrounding his retirement. He last played at the 2022 Laver Cup alongside the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Further, it was an emotional moment not just for the fans but also for the fellow players on the tour. Now months after his retirement, Federer has made an unlikely request that will surprise tennis fans.

Over the years, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has built a good-boy image on and off the court. He has been looked upon by the budding players for his professionalism. Here’s what he requested from his fans.

Roger Federer makes a common man’s request

The former World Number 1 is in Shanghai, China where he made a special appearance at the ongoing Shanghai Masters. Fans were thrilled to see their champion walk onto the court as the tournament entered its business end. Further, the Swiss legend also went on to interact with the fans present in the stadium.

During that interaction, he went on to say, “I want to enjoy the night life. I have to be a little bit careful to not overdo it. If anyone has good recommendations for restaurants & bars, let me know.”

Federer is clearly enjoying his retirement by the looks of it. He shared a deep laughter after asking fans about good restaurants and bars. During that event in Shanghai, Federer was honored with an Icon Athlete Award. He is a two-time winner at this ATP 1000 Masters tournament. Subsequently, he also went on to talk about his rivalry with Rafael Nadal during his interview there.

Almost, not on every court, but in almost all the big matches all around the world. I’m happy we could do it here. Not just once, but 3 times…”
