It’s time for the Sofia Open 2020 and players are willing to end their 2020 tennis season on a high. The tournament has reached its quarter-finals stage and the World No.38 John Millman has been exceptional so far. However, it is a part of his match against Gilles Simon which is gaining attention from the fans at the moment.

Millman was up against Simon in the Round of 16 who started the tournament as a qualifier. Despite that, the 35-year-old Simon gave a tough competition to Millman and saved a match-point after a ’47’ shot long rally.

After losing the first set 5-7, Simon was again losing the second set 5-6. Millman won a match-point but what happened after that was completely phenomenal. Simon showed his fighting spirit and saved the match-point after a long and tiring rally of 47 shots. He won the point by a delicate drop and then went on to win the set in the tie-breaker.

After some time, Simon yet again saved another match-point, the third of the match, after a ’33’ shot rally. He was looking good but lacked consistency. Millman finally won the match on his fifth match-point. The final scoreline of the match was 7-5, 6-7, 6-2.

John Millman has not been up to the mark this season. Apart from winning the recently concluded Astana Open 2020, the 31-year-old has not performed as per his potential.

Although he gave a really tough fight to Roger Federer at the Australian Open 2020, he has not been consistent in the year. He got eliminated in the second round of the US Open 2020 and could not go proceed beyond the first round at the French open 2020.
