Carlos Alcaraz reveals his hunger for revenge

Carlos Alcaraz spoke about how he prioritized watching the game of Musetti before his own match. He described how the Italian star had defeated him in his childhood and the previous year as well. Thus, he sees the upcoming match as a perfect chance for revenge. He said, “I was watching him before my match. He won minutes before I started playing. I know him very well. We played a lot of tournaments when we were kids. We played last year. He beat me. I’m going to take revenge now.”

Lorenzo Musetti defeated the Spaniard in Hamburg Germany in 2022 in three sets of 6-4 6-7 6-4. The 17th seeded Italian star had clinched the win on the outdoor clay. While Musetti will try to repeat history, Alcaraz seems determined to defeat the ‘repeat’.

The respective wins of the two stars in the ongoing French Open signal how interesting their clash is going to be. The Spanish sensation pounced upon his opponent’s chances from the beginning. Denis Shapovalov tried to offer some resistance. But Alcaraz soon charged back again to crush his hopes, as he won in straight sets of 6-1 6-4 6-2.

Lorenzo Musetti too was able to maintain his dominance over Cameron Norrie. Norrie tried to recover in the third set. However, the Italian soon offset his chances of a comeback. Like Alcaraz, he also won in straight sets with a final score of 6-1 6-2 6-4.

Alcaraz is one of the favourites to win the Roland Garros title. In a brief span of his career, the Spaniard has won ten ATP tour- level singles titles. He was the winner of 2022 US Open. Musetti too is rapidly moving ahead in the ATP rankings. He has two ATP Tour singles titles to his name.

As the fireworks at the French Open are getting brighter with each passing day, the two stars may well try to make it even more explosive.
