Indian ATP star Sumit Nagal opened up about his feelings about facing off against Danish ATP star Holger Rune in Monaco. Nagpal impressed the tennis fraternity by defeating Italian Pro player Matteo Arnaldi in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters. This is not the first time Sumit Nagal defeated a top 50-ranked ATP player. His victory against Arnaldi marks his third epic victory against any top-tier player.

Sumit Nagal sat in an interview with the Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj and spoke about his upcoming preparations in detail. Amritraj asked him about his feelings as he was about to compete with a player like Rune. Nagal said- “to be honest just try to enjoy the match you know, playing well you know and body is feeling alright. So you get on the court and you hit some balls and tactics obviously. Everyone knows he is a very good tennis player being in the top ten for past few years.”

Nagal seemed relaxed and grounded as he spoke about his mental preparations against Holger Rune. At the same time, he wished to enjoy the match and devour his best to impress the fraternity. Nagal further continued- “Just enjoy the competition you know, enjoy the match, playing in front of such wonderful people in the best tournaments so I am gonna be under smack and ball.”

Nagal’s statement expressed that he is delighted to take part in a prestigious tournament like the Monte-Carlo Masters. This is also because he is the first Indian after 42 years to attend the singles main draw of this tennis tournament.
