Brooke Shields, ex-wife of Andre Agassi, has led quite the difficult life. Her parents divorced when she was five months old and she was bossed around by her mother quite a lot. What many people don’t know is that quite a few members of her past family have also led difficult lives. Her mother’s father died when she was 9 and her paternal grandmother also went through a divorce. Shields explained in a podcast that from her father’s side, she belonged to the royal family and how her parents eventually went through a divorce.

In a podcast called WTF with Marc Maron, Shields talked about how she struggled with misogyny and her modeling career. She also talked about her family lineage and how she came to discover that her father’s side of the family had a royal side to them.  Before she discussed her father’s family she also talked about how her parents had her.

She said that the two met over a weekend and her mother fell for her father with great intensity. Shields said that her mother got pregnant over the weeken. However, her father was in denial as he felt that his reputation would fall apart.

“She just fell really, really hard. And I think she got pregnant. I think that weekend or whatever, that could be that first encounter, I don’t know. She kind of got her hooks into him and then when she told him that she was pregnant, then he thought, ‘Well, I can’t do that, have a child out of wedlock and, and this is going to ruin my reputation’.”

Shields also talked about her father’s side of the family in the podcast.

When she discussed her father’s side of the family, she recalled that they were high society and his mother was a princess from Rome. “Very blue blood. Upper East Side was really, you know, Penn. His mother was a princess in Rome.”

She went on to establish the credibility of her father’s royal lineage as she said he was raised in that manner. The actress also explained that her father’s father was a major tennis player and she knew him a little bit.

“Like, real deal princess and he was sort of raised half that way. And then his father was the number one tennis player in the world. I knew him when I was two. I think by the time I was three, he died but he was also an actor, under contract at paramount.”

Further, she talked about how her father’s parents divorced. However, her paternal grandfather remarried, a tennis player this time, and said that her father was able to toast to the wedding. Adding that he had a Davis Cup medal.

“Well, the toast was really easy for my father at that point. He had a Davis Cup medal.”

Her paternal grandparents’ marriage had a somewhat similar track to her own marriage as she also divorced Andre Agassi. But her current marriage has broken the Shields family marriage curse as Shields and her husband are still going strong.
