Grigor Dimitrov is on his quest, racing for himself. Even in the face of fierce competition, Dimitrov can establish real relationships with his peers—a skill he credits to his mother. The rising tennis player from Bulgaria recently talked about the priceless lessons learned from his mother’s career as a teacher and how her advice has influenced his development as a professional athlete.

Dimitrov’s upbringing was heavily impacted by his parents, Maria and Dimitar, who came from different backgrounds but had a love of athletics. Maria, a former volleyball player and physical education teacher, instilled valuable lessons in her son despite their differing pursuits.
