Brushing aside ‘results’ as a decisive factor, the Indian tennis legend labeled Novak Djokovic as the ‘best’ among the ‘Big 3’. While revealing the reason behind the same, Bopanna brought to light the Serb’s biggest upside over his arch-rivals, Federer and Nadal.

The ATP doubles legend hails Novak Djokovic as the ‘best’ on the men’s circuit

During the latest episode of the ‘Cyrus Says’ podcast show, Rohan Bopanna was asked to choose the best out of the three tennis greats, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. In his honest response, the former world No. 3 doubles player said, “Novak Djokovic.”

The ATP doubles legend went on to say, “People go finish their careers just making quarterfinals. Yeah. You know, at the end of the day, I think it’s not the results.” Excluding ‘results’ as a form of judgment, Bopanna opened up about how the Serbian tennis player had to break the strong duopoly of  Federer and Nadal when he arrived on the men’s tour.

Highlighting perseverance as Djokovic’s biggest upside, Bopanna said, “I’m you know, just who’s making but I just think from that time Novak came in, he already had to fight through Roger, Rafa to be where he is today.” Aside from Bopanna, another doubles tennis superstar picked up Djokovic as the ‘GOAT’, and cleverly justified his choice.

Another doubles tennis legend recently labeled Djokovic as the ‘GOAT’

Leander Paes, who is considered one of the greatest doubles tennis players, recently made his stance clear about the ‘Big 3’. While calling him a great athlete, the Indian tennis legend revealed why the Serb is the ‘GOAT’ for him. In a podcast show, the tennis veteran recently said, “For me, by far the greatest of all time.”

As he settled the longstanding ‘GOAT’ debate, Paes also revealed the reason behind his bold assertion by bringing to light a ‘history books’ narrative. He reminded everyone how the ‘Djoker’ has marked a remarkable 24 Grand Slam triumphs on the men’s tour, as he said, “Because the history books show that. He has won 24 Grand Slams and counting.
