Mental health has been one of the reasons Aussie tennis player Nick Kyrgios had quite a bad year in 2022. He spoke about his self-harm tendencies and alcohol use, which happened because of his mental problems. However, in a recent podcast, Kyrgios assured fans saying that he had finally found the remedy to his issues.

Nick Kyrgios said, “Well, I was winning more often than losing. But I guess I just bought into having a better mentality and, you know, understanding that tennis is so up and down. You know, being on the tour for the whole year was incredibly hard. And I just knew I had to manage my emotions better. And that’s, that’s what I did.” 

Kyrgios previously spoke about his issues in detail, which concerned fans. He spoke about not communicating with close ones and pushing them away. It significantly impacted his performance. In Kyrgios’s words,”I felt I was letting people down all the time. I felt worthless to be honest, I didn’t feel comfortable, I hated my life at one stage,” he said in the interview. “I was cutting, burning. … It was so dark that I kind of liked it as well, like asking people to do it and stuff. What doesn’t kill you makes you stranger (and stronger). I’m still a bit cooked.”
