Zverev opened up about his suffering from a lifelong illness

The former World No. 2 appeared on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast back in February. There, he focused on his journey with diabetes and revealed why he ended up opening up to the world about his condition. Zverev talked about how he took his own time to tell the world, including his ATP friends.

The German player was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the tender age of three. His diagnosis might have helped with managing the condition, but he also faced difficulties at school for it. As he announced the launch of his foundation for supporting diabetic children, he reportedly said: “It feels like you know, a stone coming off my shoulders in a way, because in school I was maybe bullied a little bit for it.”
