“To defeat a player like Djokovic you have to do things that very few players can do. You have to outrun Nole and dominate him. I see myself as someone who may have a chance to beat him. Zverev vs Djokovic: Head-to-head

Zverev is not completely new to the Nole challenge in the circuit. Djokovic enjoys a 6-2 record against the World No. 5; however, Zverev cannot be counted as a soft opponent.

Zverev enjoys two wins against Djokovic, one in 2017 and the other in 2018. He won both matches without dropping a set, both being the finals of ATP tournaments. The two wins resulted in Zverev winning the Nitto ATP Finals in Great Britain and the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome.

However, the last five meetings between the players have all gone in favor of the World No.1. The Serb has been dominating the sport for the past two years, as a result of which no one has been able to stop him.

There is no doubt that upsets can take place any time during a match; however, it seems unlikely for Zverev to stop Djokovic at this moment. The World No. 1 will be a fan favorite in Tokyo as well as for the US Open in August. It will take more than just strong words for the younger players to get past Djokovic.
