In today’s age where technology has completely changed the way sports are being consumed, broadcasting has experienced a massive shift. Renowned broadcasters are taking viewing to a whole new level with various new techniques, like 3d field view, and following the athlete closely. However, one such broadcaster recently faced heat with spontaneous changes. Jim Courier, who works as a commentator for the Tennis Channel, was the focal point of criticism by the fans.

Over the past few years, Tennis Channel has become the leading broadcaster of tennis in the United States. It has rights to all four major tournaments in addition to other big tournaments like the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup. However, recently, people complained that the broadcasting here was erratic and there was a constant switch between the matches. Furthermore, Courier’s constant blabbering as a commentator irked fans endlessly.

One fan, who was watching the match between Caroline Wozniacki and Sara Errani at the Madrid Open, experienced this issue. Subsequently, she took to Facebook and said, “Tennis Channel has to be the worst. They hardly ever stay with one match from start to finish. Was watching Errani/Wozniacki then the switch to the men.”

Further, another fan narrated the reaction after hearing Courier’s voice during the match, saying, “Understand your disappointment. The moment I heard Courier’s voice, I immediately switched to golf.” Meanwhile, one had had an honest opinion about Courier’s commentary, and said, “Courier has a world of tennis knowledge, but he doesn’t stop talking… ever! Switching I personally like the variety and the interviews with players.”

On the other hand, some fans made a mockery of Courier’s commentary. While one fan said, “And back to Coco & Courier the talking machines. Lol,” another exclaimed, “And Courier is back!!!” Not only has Courier lent his voice to commentary at the Madrid Open but also to Netflix’s Break Point.

Jim Courier may have been a tennis maestro but commentating needs to be worked on

The Netflix series Break Point uncovers the behind-the-scenes moments of tennis stars as they embark on the journey to rule the tennis world. During season 2 of the series, which was released earlier this year, Courier was one of the legendary players who spoke about many topics.

Although he has been quite candid in his opinions, he has few fans as far as his commentary goes. A complete contrast to the time he played on the tennis court, isn’t it?
