The former American tennis player, Jimmy Connors, was involved in many fierce battles against some of the greatest players on the tennis court. However, his Grand Slam match against compatriot, Andre Agassi, was the one Connors will always remember.
Additionally, the former United States President, Donald Trump, was there to witness the thrilling match between Connors and Agassi.

The 8 Grand Slam champion later revealed that Trump initially supported him during the Grand Slam match. However, Connors also stated that the former US President later switched sides during the game.
Jimmy Connors once made a surprising revelation about Donald Trump
The 8 Grand Slam title winner once talked about his fierce rivalry with Andre Agassi in the book, “The Outsider: My Autobiography.” Connors also stated that he will always remember the quarterfinal match of the US Open in 1988 as Donald Trump was also there in the stands.

The former American tennis player went on to say that Trump couldn’t get a ticket for the Grand Slam match. As a result, Gerry Goldberg invited the former US President to sit in Connors’ box to watch the thrilling match of the US Open. However, after the second set, Trump moved from Connors’ box and then he was later spotted sitting in Agassi’s box.
Connors stated that Trump realized that Agassi was going to win the second set of the quarterfinal match in New York City. He further talked about Trump by stating, “I guess he knew where the cameras would be.” A young and talented Agassi then defeated his compatriot and rival, Connors, 6-2, 7-6, 6-1, in the quarterfinal of the tournament in New York.

The American tennis star was only 18 years old during the US Open in 1988. Agassi booked his place in the semifinal match against the former Czech–American tennis player, Ivan Lendl.
Connors was involved in verbal sparring with Agassi after their Grand Slam match
A young Agassi stunned the audience by defeating the 36-year-old, Connors in Flushing Meadow. However, during the post-match conference, Agassi also stated that he thought that his match against Connors “was going to be much easier”. He also made predictions with one of his friends that the match was an easy fixture.

However, Connors was furious with Agassi’s remarks after he defeated him in the US Open match. Connors further stated that Agassi shouldn’t have said that because they might be playing again each other again.
The American tennis star went on to say that Agassi “made a bad mistake” by saying such a thing during the post-match. Connors added that he will always remember Agassi’s statement after their quarter-match in the Grand Slam tournament.
