As Roger Federer prepares to play his last professional match, his coach, Ivan Ljubicic, speaks exclusively to Tennis Majors, revealing some of the inner workings of their relationship.
“It is just that you have the feeling that he soaks up everything you say, and he is always open to trying new things. If I told him to try a two-handed backhand, he would try it. Roger is aware that his strong character and charisma can cause people to be in awe of him, so he is trying to make it easy on the coaches,” said Ljubicic.

Despite Not Playing for 13 Months, Roger Federer Becomes the Highest-Paid Tennis Player for 17th Consecutive Year
Earlier this month, the 41-year-old Federer announced his retirement, ending a staggering tennis career. And this time, at the Laver Cup 2022, the former World No. 1 and 20-time Grand Slam winner will compete in his final match.

Federer on life after retirement
After announcing his retirement from competitive tennis, Roger Federer assured his fans that he would remain involved in the sport in some capacity. Federer hasn’t played a competitive match since losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals of last year’s Wimbledon tournament. And to go with that, he has also been battling a knee injury.
“Tennis has given me too much to ever become that guy. I’ve been in the industry for far too long. Have Multiple Love Affair Syndrome, ” he said to Sky Sports.
